Tropical House Plans

Here we are going to discuss about the Plan of Houses which are to be constructed in the Tropical areas. They are known as Tropical House Plans. First we will discuss what does ‘Tropical’ mean. Then we will see the factors that make us to think about the different ways these houses need to be planned.

As we all know that the centre line dividing our earth between the two is known as equator. Above equator we have Tropic of Cancer and below the equator at equidistant to the Tropic of cancer we have Tropic of Capricorn. Hence the region between the Tropic of cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn is called the Tropical region. This is the region where sun rays fall directly and at its full intensity.

So, Climatic conditions here are entirely different as compared to the other regions. The climate here is too dry. It is too hot during the summer and winters are restless. Usually we have extreme type of climates here. So, in order to survive here, we need to customize our houses. As the climate is extremely dry during summers the place usually encounters winds and storms. In such regions we find all kind of deserts and dry land. Tropical houses are constructed considering all these factors.

There are many countries which come under tropical region like southern part of India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, certain region of Africa and South America, etc. In such places, cold breezes are observed during winter as well as hot breeze or storms during summers, both are unbearable. So, in order to survive at such places the Tropical Houses are planned in a different and unique way.

We have to design the roof (the most important part of the construction) in such a way that when the storm hits, we can have minimum destructions. Storm shutters are used in order to control and manage the storms effects. The doors are properly designed with double Strong hinges which can sustain wind and heavy storms. The outer walls are well protected with Special galvanized Metal Covers. The Galvanized sheets protect houses against the dry winds.

The architects have come out with good plans for such regions. They suggest that houses in such region should be made up of Insulated Shipping containers combined with the Bamboo. This design supports the warm and hot climate found in such regions. In such region people face lot of problem due to the storms. These designs specially concentrate on how to control hot climate and how to provide proper ventilation in order to drop down the temperature. These Storms are so effective that they can blow away big structures also. So, the outer walls are protected using such thick metal sheets around. With such an environment, these tropical region people face lot of problems. So, tropical houses plans are totally different from the normal plans.

Tropical house plans are not the same as any ordinary house plans. They have to consider the climatic conditions and then come out with an effective plan for us. Tropical climate is not really easy to survive with compared to non- tropical regions, so the house plan is very important here.
